Midsummer Eve, A

About the Story

Midsummer Eve, A Thought to be written between 1590 and 1596, A Midsummer Nightís Dream is one of Shakespeareís most popular works and is described as romantic, dreamlike, farcical, and fantastic. The character of Puck, a mischievous woodland sprite/goblin, was derived from traditional English folklore.

Since the 13th century in England, the summer solstice has been celebrated as Midsummer Eve with people lighting bonfires, feasting, and engaging in general merrymaking. In England, Midsummer Eve is usually celebrated on either June 23 (St. Johnís Eve) or on June 28 (St. Peterís Eve).
